The Evolution-
Intelligent Design Circus

Screening and Q & A with Filmmaker Randy Olson

Sunday, June 3 at 11 a.m.

Evolution is the most powerful, unifying set of ideas in all of science. Though there is continuing discussion about the specific details of Darwin's theory, there is no doubt within competent scientific circles about whether evolution happened.

So why do half of Americans believe God made humans in their current form? Why do school boards across the country continue to discuss ways to dilute or remove evolution from science classes?

Harvard biologist-turned-filmmaker Randy Olson has part of the answer. In his documentary Flock of Dodos, Olson shows how scientists are losing the PR war with the well-organized proponents of Intelligent Design. The factually accurate scientists have trouble competing with the more charming, but misinformed, IDers and creationists. Average people respond better to the non-scientists, it seems.

Olson will be at the Steve Allen Theater for a post-screening discussion, answering questions about the making of the film and his international experiences screening it.
