August 6 Was the U.S. justified in its decision to use the atomic bomb in 1945? On the 61st anniversary of the bombing of the Japanese city of Hiroshima, the Center will address the decision to drop the bomb and reflect on its impact on nuclear issues today. Lanza will show a clip of her work-in-progress. Mukai, the youngest of six children of a Japanese-American mother and eight years old at the time of the bombing, lives in Los Angeles and is currently President of the Hiroshima Society. He will appear at the talk assisted by a translator. $6, or free for Friends of the Center.
