The Gatling Gun, which was invented by Dr. Richard
Jordan Gatling in 1862 and fired 600 rounds a
minute, was a weapon of mass destruction. Though
used briefly in the American Civil War, the Gatling
Gun proved its value in later wars and has been
widely adopted in military applications, even today.
In a
multimedia presentation, Joseph Wagner, M.D.m
will trace the impact of this technology and the
subsequent development of the more destructive
atomic, biological and chemical weapons in the hands
of nations and terrorists that now threaten
civilization.
Wagner
is a retired Assistant Clinical Professor of
Orthopedic Surgery at UCLA and has lectured
internationally about the American Civil War.$6, or
